Before any explanation is given I want to wish any travelers out there safe and happy travels wherever you might be!

What a great feeling it is to be experiencing and exploring this wondrous planet of ours. Everyday bringing new adventures and endless possibilities. And who knows, maybe some life-long friends as well.

WanderingWords.com was created by a backpacker (that's me!) who wanted to help his fellow travelers capture these moments as easily as possible to be accessed wherever and whenever the desire arose.

The concept is pretty simple: You register and then make as many journal entries as you wish. Each entry can be accompanied by a couple of files - whether they be images, audio or video files, or even Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint documents - to add a true multimedia feel to your journal.

You can also add friends and family to your access list and each time you make a new entry they can be automatically notified of the entry if you so desire. (They will be provided with a secure link that takes them directly to the new entry for easy, one-click access.) You can even allow global viewing of your journal meaning anyone coming to WanderingWords.com can read your entries if you wish to share your thoughts and experiences with the world.

You can also allow some or all of your access list members to post comments at the bottom of your journal entries, in effect making them mini message boards. There's even the ability to divide your entries between public and personal content so you can have a section of each entry for your eyes only, meaning each entry can be a public journal and a private diary all in one.

There's an automated walk through of the site to explain how everything works in detail. The tour is divided into 10 movies highlighting the different functionalities of WanderingWords.com.

When you eventually finish your travels you can get a CD copy of your journal for a small fee, which covers the cost of the CD and shipping and handling.

So, that's it. If this site becomes popular enough I will start looking into other ideas such as chat rooms, hostel listings, discount travel packages for WanderingWords.com members, etc. However, that really isn't the point.

The point is that WanderingWords.com is an attempt to create a small space on the Internet where backpackers, travelers (and anybody else!) everywhere can create, preserve and share their experiences with friends and family around the globe.
